The football division of the SWOA is devoted to promote competent football officiating and to provide officials with the knowledge necessary to warrant absolute public confidence in both integrity and methods. The football division holds regular meetings during the football season, sponsors an annual officiating clinic, and provides a significant amount of reference material to aid officials.

2024 Football Meetings

The 2024 football instructional meetings will be held at various locations around Dane County. Topics will be listed below. All meetings will be from 6:30pm-8pm unless otherwise noted.

The Southern Wisconsin Officials Association is proud to offer our 27th Annual Football Officials Clinic on Saturday, August 3rd at Oregon High School. Whether you are a newer official or a veteran, this WIAA approved clinic can help you ELEVATE YOUR GAME in the understanding and proper use of NFHS mechanics and signals.

WIAA Approved

Officials at levels L1-L3 compleing the training will advance one level upon re-licensing. Officials at L4 thru Master levels will receive credit for one varsity contest. Attendance for the whole day is required for credit and will be applied to the 2025 season.


Our staff comprises of high school and college officials from the Wisconsin area. Classroom instruction Saturday morning will focus on aspects of the running, passing and kicking games as well as heavy use of video review.

If you are interested in joining us for the SWOA Football Clinic you can register using the link below. Clinic fees are $30 for adults; WIAA registered students can attend for free! Upon receipt of your payment, you will be sent a confirmation via email with additional clinic details.
